Barcelona claim to have been given assurances Victor Valdes will not leave the club until next summer.
The goalkeeper has made it clear he will not sign a new contract at Camp Nou and wants to experience life away from Spain.
Valdes has only one year left on his current deal and was consequently linked with Liverpool and Arsenal this summer.
But Barcelona have no plans to sell and the shot-stopper's agent, Gines Carvajal, has told the club his client will honour his terms until the end of next season when he can leave for free.
"Valdes' agent has officially informed our director of football, Andoni Zubizarreta, that Victor intends to see out his current contract, which we are pleased to hear," Barcelona president Sandro Rosell said in Marca.
Barcelona have repeatedly been linked with a move to bring their former goalkeeper, Liverpool's Jose Reina, back to the club as a replacement for Valdes
