DAVID GILL insists Wayne Rooney will be at Manchester United next season.

Old Trafford's former chief executive, who was yesterday voted on to UEFA'S executive committee, said: "I'm confident he (Rooney) will be there next season.

"He's a great, great player and the club doesn't want to lose its star players."

Meanwhile, Everton's Jimmy Lumsden and Chris Woods are poised to join new boss David Moyes at Manchester United.

The pair are set to replace assistant manager Mike Phelan and goalkeeping coach Eric Steele, who were axed yesterday.

Moyes said: "I would like to put on record the club's thanks for everything Mike and Eric have done."
