A newly married man identified as Lawal Bala, had his throat slit by unknown gunmen in Gangere area of Jos North Local Government, Plateau State.
Bala, 30, who just
got married to 17 year old Miriam last month, was killed on Tuesday,
while relaxing in his house at Layin Sidi area of Gangere, a prominent
Hausa-dominated area of Jos North LGA.
According
to information got, the deceased, said to be a butcher, was heard
screaming and when his wife came out, she saw him staggering in front of
his house with a knife protruding from his neck.
She
was said to have raised an alarm, attracting the attention of
neighbours, who rushed in to help him. His wife was said to be
screaming, “they have killed my husband”, while also calling on
passersby to assist her.
However, the sympathizers who came to assist, pointed an accusing finger at the wife because she attempted to run away.
She
was said to have been saved by Bala’s brother, Alhaji Hamza Dikko, who
is the chairman of Butchers Association and chairman, All Nigeria
Peoples Party in the area.
He allegedly argued that she had no basis to kill her husband.
