GUILLERMO VARELA will have a medical at Old Trafford today before completing his Manchester United move.
The 20-year-old Uruguayan, who plays for Penarol in his homelands, was on trial at United last season.
And he is set to join the champions after confirming that a deal will be finalised today.
Varela is a promising right-back and will set United back an initial £1m - but the fee could rise to more than double that.
The youngster told Uruguayan radio station Futbol a lo Penarol: "I will have a medical on Friday and on Saturday I join the Uruguay Under-20 national team.
"I will have to learn English, Rodolfo Catino [Penarol's club treasurer] taught me something, the structure is impressive."
Varela is David Moyes' first signing since replacing Sir Alex Ferguson as boss.
