The Club can announce that Managing Director, Derek Llambias, has resigned from his position with immediate effect
Newcastle statement
ALAN PARDEW'S future at Newcastle could be in
doubt after managing director Derek Llambias - his close friend -
resigned from the club..
StarSport exclusively revealed this morning that Pardew was vowing to win the power struggle with newly-appointed director of football Joe Kinnear.
The pair spoke at length yesterday and Pardew seeked reassurances over several pressing issues.
Pardew's instincts are to carry on at St James' Park because he has a good relationship with Llambias, who had nothing to do with Kinnear's appointment.
But that could all change after Newcastle revealed Llambias - who Kinnear comically called "Derek Lambeezee" - had quit.
"Derek said: "I have had an incredible journey during my five years at the club, including some challenging times. I will reflect with great fondness on my time in the North East and, in me, Newcastle United have a lifelong supporter.
"I want to thank the staff for their hard work, our fans for their support of the club, and wish them all well for the future."
Bookmakers have already installed Kinnear as the favourite to become the next permanent manager.
