ASTON Villa boss Paul Lambert says Ashley Westwood is one of the exceptional new Premier League pass-masters.
Westwood, 23, has signed a new four-year contract at Villa after playing a starring role last season.
His old deal was torn up after he made a massive impression following his £3m move from Crewe just a year ago.
Lambert believes the midfielder could now go on to force himself into the England reckoning.
He said: “His passing stats show a success rate of something like 91 per cent and he has been exceptional for us.Westwood said: ‘‘This time last year I was on pre-season with Crewe – it’s fantastic to be part of this special club.”“His passing stats show a success rate of something like 91 per cent and he has been exceptional for us”Paul Lambert
Meanwhile, wantaway striker Darren Bent hopes to move to Newcastle.
Bent, Villa’s record £18m buy from Sunderland, is available for £6m and Hull, Crystal Palace and Fulham are all interested.
But the 28-year-old has told his representatives he would jump at the chance to join the Geordies.
