The
Rivers Governor, Mr. Chibuike Amaechi, on Wednesday decried the
attitude of Nigeria Bar Association (NBA) toward the crisis in the
Nigeria Governors’ Forum following its May 24 election.
The governor made the criticism at a symposium, organised by the Rule of Law Development Foundation, in Abuja.
Amaechi called on Nigerians to defend the truth in the interest of the 2015 general elections.
He
said “NBA has lost its voice and NBA cannot afford to lose its voice on
issues of national concern because of its position in the society.
“Anybody
who supports the Jang group is undermining democracy because everybody
voted during the election, including Jang. The way things are going we
have to be careful.”
He insisted he was the ‘bona fide’ chairman of the forum because he won the election.
NAN
recalls that the election of the chairman of the forum has generated a
controversy with both Amaechi and Jang claiming to be the holder of the
office.
