Nigeria's First Lady has, via the statement delivered by her special assistant on media, Mr. Ayo Osinlu, responded to the accusations of the Nobel prize laureate, Prof Wole Soyinka.
The statement read that Soyinka had betrayed his moral duty in his recent tirade on her linking her to the ongoing crisis rocking her home state of Rivers -- out of sheer "self-righteously indignant lecterns".
It would be recalled that Soyinka, at a press conference on Thursday, asked President Goodluck Jonathan to call his wife to order, as, according to him, the First Lady's influence is overbearing and heating the Rivers' polity.
The retaliatory statement my Mrs Jonathan contained accusations of Soyinka for taking sides with Amaechi because "they are friends": "Prof Soyinka's friendship with Amaechi is no secret. There is no attempt by the two to hide it, anyway. On the premise of that, the cerebral prodigy should encourage his younger friend to retrace his steps, make peace with his party and the people of his state, as well as smoothen the feathers he has ruffled."
