ABOVE: New dad Tom Ince will be staying at Blackpool
NEW dad Tom Ince has snubbed a move to Cardiff following the birth of his first child.
The England Under-21 midfielder became a father on Thursday with the birth of daughter Halle Rae.
And that has prompted him to reject an £8m transfer to the Premier League new boys.
It comes as a major blow for Cardiff manager Malky Mackay, who met Ince on Monday having had an offer accepted by Blackpool.
A Cardiff statement said that both Tom and his
dad Paul – who is Blackpool’s manager – felt it was the wrong time to
make the move, even though personal terms had been agreed.
The
statement read: “Paul confirmed that, due to the recent birth of
Thomas’ first child this week, the player didn’t want to leave his
family or the Seasiders at this stage of his life.”
Mackay will take his squad to Switzerland on Sunday for a week-long training camp.
He said: “You are constantly spinning 10 plates at once in the transfer window with players and agents. We will move on.”
