The Nigerian team beat Portuguese side Estoril 4-2 in a penalty shootout to win the Under-16 tournament. The encounter ended goalless in regulation time.
Spanish and French teams also featured in youth tournament, which took place from July 1 to 6, at Estadio Estoril.
The Nigerians defeated ASL Robertsau of France 3-0, Ullern IF of Norway 4-0 and Club Brexo-Lema SD of Spain 7-0 in their group games.
Nigerian Ambassador to Portugal Mrs. Ijeoma Bristol led the Nigerian community that cheered the team to victory in the final.
The youngest member of the squad Samuel Chukwueze was the top scorer of the competition with 12 goals while Kelechi Nwakali was adjudged the MVP for the event.
