LIVERPOOL have finalised a deal to sign Manchester City defender Kolo Toure.

The 32-year-old is available on a free transfer after running down his current City deal.

And Kop boss Brendan Rodgers has now agreed in principle to bring the Ivory Coast international to Anfield.

The transfer will be rubber-stamped in the next 48 hours and Toure will officially join Liverpool on July 1.

The Reds have made the move after veteran centre-back Jamie Carragher retired from football at the end of the season after 737 games for the club.

Martin Skrtel’s Merseyside future is also in doubt after admitting he had endured one of the worst seasons in his career.

The Slovakian lost his place in the Liverpool team to Carragher and Rodgers is considering cashing in on the 28-year-old.

Without Carragher and Skrtel, the Reds would be left with just Daniel Agger as an experienced central defender.

But as well as the imminent arrival of Toure, Rodgers has been linked with a move for Schalke’s Greece star Kyriakos Papadopoulos, 21.
