'Ex-Sex' - A Good Idea? How Sleeping With An Old Lover Lessens Distress Of Break-Up

'Ex-Sex' - A Good Idea? How Sleeping With An Old Lover Lessens Distress Of Break-Up
We're taught to stay away from the bedrooms of our exes at all costs, and frequently reminded that nothing that goes on in there post-breakup can ever be a good thing for our mental well-being. But received wisdom of this ilk is being shattered by new findings suggesting that 'ex-sex' can, in some cases, be a good idea.
Divorced partners who have slipped up and fallen back into the marital bed report that sex with an ex can actually lessen the psychological distress caused by the break-up.
In a recent study published in the Journal of Social and Clinical Psychology, researchers at the University of Arizona examined a group of 137 recently divorced adults and asked how many had had the occasional post-conjugal visit after their divorce papers had been signed. Findings found that most participants (82.5 per cent) remained in contact with their ex after the separation, and almost one-fifth (21.9 per cent) had sex.
Whether or not the ex-sex actually helped a partner get over the end of their marriage depended on how 'over' it they already were. Partners who hadn't accepted the break-up found the intimate encounters actually helped lessen the pain of divorce.
Meanwhile, partners who had accepted the break-up found sex made no difference at all to how they dealt with it, indicating that 'ex-sex' may not be quite as emotionally detrimental as we had previously thought, and that it can, in fact, have benefits for those who are not-quite over their relationship.
Psychologists believe that break-ups can leave us with attachment needs that go unfulfilled, and that sex with an ex helps to provide some sense of security, and at least partial fulfillment of those needs.
A recent survey found that more women than men look back with longing on past relationships and admit to having had better sex with an ex than with their current partner. The survey of 1,100 adults found that 38 per cent of women said the best sex of their lives was in a previous relationship.
Sex and relationship experts say this 'grass is greener' syndrome is not new. Many women benefit from having sex with their ex because it ultimately gives them 'closure' on the relationship.
However, experts warn: 'It's dodgy ground if there's a lot of emotion involved. If a much-loved partner who has left is interested in sex with you it sends of message of hope - and that could be false hope.
'On their side it's a trip down sexual memory lane, on your side, it's make-up sex with a view of rekindling.
'If you're going to do it, make sure you go into it with a clear understanding of what it means to the other person.'

(PHOTOS) The World’s First Talking Robot Launched Into Space

Japan has launched the world's first talking robot into space to serve as companion to astronaut Kochi Wakata who will begin his mission in November.

(PHOTOS) The World’s First Talking Robot Launched Into Space
The android took off from the island of Tanegashima in an unmanned rocket also carrying supplies for crew onboard the International Space Station (ISS).
Measuring 34cm, Kirobo is due to arrive at the ISS on 9 August. It is part of a study to see how machines can lend emotional support to people isolated over long periods.
The launch of the H-2B rocket was broadcast online by the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (Jaxa).

The unmanned rocket is also carrying drinking water, food, clothing and work supplies to the six permanent crew members based at the ISS.
Kirobo with developer Tomotaka Takahashi Tomotaka Takahashi with his creation 'Giant leap' Kirobo's name derives from the Japanese words for "hope" and "robot".
The small android weighs about 1kg (2.2 pounds) and has a wide range of physical motion. Its design was inspired by the legendary animation character Astro Boy.

Kirobo has been programmed to communicate in Japanese and keep records of its conversations with Mr Wakata who will take over as commander of the ISS later this year.
In addition, it is expected to relay messages from the control room to the astronaut.
"Kirobo will remember Mr Wakata's face so it can recognise him when they reunite up in space," the robot's developer, Tomotaka Takahashi said.
"I wish for this robot to function as a mediator between a person and machine, or a person and the Internet, and sometimes even between people."
The biggest challenge was to make the android compatible with space, Mr Takahashi added.

Dozens of tests were carried out over nine months to ensure Kirobo's reliability.
Kirobo has a twin robot on Earth called Mirata, which will monitor any problems its electronic counterpart may experience in space.
"It's one small step for me, a giant leap for robots," Mirata said of the mission last month.
The endeavour is a joint project between Mr Takahashi, car producer Toyota and advertising company Dentsu.

China And India Scramble For Business In Nigeria

Throughout Africa - at building sites, on the street, and at ports and airports - the Chinese presence is growing.

photo
Competing for a slice of the wealth along with traditional stakeholders are new ones such as Brazil and South Korea - and India, China's neighbour.
India suffered a humiliating military defeat at the hands of China in 1962 and has been wary of its intentions. The long-standing border dispute has been a major sticking point for the two countries.
With demand for resources to fuel both their growing economies rising, the contest between the two giants is playing out in different parts of the world. The campus of Nairobi University is one such place.
In a corner here, workers from the China Wu Yi company are working to build a futuristic 21-storey tower, complete with lecture halls, for up to 3,000 students and a helipad.
"Once it is finished in two years, this building will be the tallest structure around," says Prof Sa Dequan, head of the university's Chinese language and cultural teaching centre.
China Wu Yi was helped by the Chinese government to gain access to Kenya, but now it is handling 18 projects here.
Not long ago, it completed a section of the eight-lane, 50km Thika Superhighway, described as Kenya's pride.
This kind of push by the Chinese government, say Indians, is helping their neighbour to steal a march on them.
"Indians have been in Kenya and this continent for more than 200 years. Why have they not developed the industry like the Chinese have done in the last 10 to 15 years?" asks Kenyan-born businessman Muljibhai Pindolia, who is of Indian descent.
He says the reason lies with the active involvement of Beijing. "With our own resources, we cannot develop the way those with government support can."

Nigerian Pastor, Anselm Madubuko To Marry Kenyan Gospel Musician One Year After Wife's Death (PHOTO)

A year after his wife Connie Madubuko died, the Head Pastor of Revival Assembly Church, Apostle Anselm Madubuko is getting ready to remarry.

Apostle Madubuko is set to marry 33 year old daughter of a bishop and Kenyan gospel award winning music star, Emmy Kosgei. Their traditional marriage will hold on Thursday August 29th in Kenya, while their church wedding will hold on Saturday August 31 at Revival Miracle Cathedral in Lagos. A reception will follow later at Sheraton Hotel, Lagos.

Apostle Anselm Madubuko talks about why he settled for Emmy Kosgei
"The truth is that God brought her to me and it was just glare in my spirit. When my wife passed on, I was completely clueless and I began to pray. God showed her to me. She refused my advances initially but after some time through prophesies and so on, she said yes."
Apostle Madubuko met Emmy in Kenya in 2010 during one of his visits to the country to propagate God's work at the Revival Assembly Azusa conference.
Emmy was at the conference to perform.

It's Happy Birthday! President Obama Turns 52

photo
President Barack Obama turned 52 on Sunday, celebrating part of his birthday at Camp David after spending Saturday golfing with friends.

The White House didn't say exactly how the commander in chief celebrated his birthday, issuing a happy birthday tweet.
That left the White House pool report understandably thin upon his return.

"Marine One touched down at 1:58 and he was back in the White House by 2," the National Journal's George Condon wrote in his Sunday pool report.
"Obama was wearing a casual jacket and an open-collared blue shirt. When someone shouted 'Happy Birthday,' he smiled and waved, one of several waves toward the cameras as he entered the White House. No birthday cakes or party hats were evident."

UPDATED: DELSU Students Lynched By Angry Mob (Graphic Video)

A 25-year-old undergraduate of Delta State University, Ifechukwude Nwainokpor, and his friend, identified simply as Kazeem were attacked and beaten to death by a mob at the Ajara area of Badagry on the ground that their faces looked strange in the neighborhood while policemen watched on.

An eight-minute video clip of the gruesome killing showed the two victims handcuffed together. They were covered in their own blood and beaten to death with sticks. Tyres were also put round their necks.
The lynching took place around 3pm on July 21, 2013 in Ajara area of Badagry, a community not far from Nwainokpor’s family home.
Ifechukwude Nwainokpor's father, Samuel, said that his son was arrested while passing through a street in the area but a misunderstanding later ensued and the hoodlums pounced on him and Kazeem.
Father said that it happened because there had been a robbery in Ajara four days earlier, some of the residents were on the lookout for strange faces and so when the youth saw two unknown young men, they accosted them and an argument ensued.
After that the youth called the head of the vigilante group in the area, one Asiribo and it was decided that the boys be taken to the Baale, Agano Oniyon of Agamade Ajara.
But as they were going, Asiribo, while trying to return his gun into its pouch, mistakenly shot himself in the stomach and died. "Asiribo’s death infuriated the youth, who blamed the boys for his death. The mob picked up sticks and beat them to death. Policemen were there,” he said.
The spokesperson for the state police command, Ngozi Braide, said, “The incident is quite pathetic. Even if they were armed robbers, no one has the right to take the life of another. Why then do we have the police and the judiciary?
The Nigerian police as well as the law condemn mob action and jungle justice. The commissioner of police has set up a high- powered investigation body to investigate the matter.”

Olympic Hero Sets New World Record

Missy Franklin ended the world swimming championships with a history-making title in Barcelona on Sunday.

photo
Franklin led off the U.S. women’s 4×100-meter medley relay in her signature stroke, the backstroke, giving the Americans a lead they would only build on. Jessica Hardy, Dana Vollmer and Megan Romano took their turns on the way to a 3-minute, 53.23-second finish, two seconds better than silver medalist Australia.
“I’m not really sure where that came from, but I’m really happy with that,” Franklin said, according to The Associated Press. “I knew I had to get out there for my team. We had really tough competition in that race, so we were sitting there in the ready room and we said, ‘No matter what happens, we’re just going to do our best and have fun and we can’t let each other down if we do that.’ So I just went out there and it hurt really, really bad, but now we’re done and we’re all super excited.”
It marked Franklin’s sixth gold of the meet, breaking her tie with East German Kristin Otto and Americans Shirley Babashoff and Tracy Caulkins for most golds won by a woman at a single world championships. Otto holds the record for most golds won at an Olympics, six at the 1988 Seoul Games.
Franklin, 18, also stands alone with the most career world championships gold medals by a woman (nine). She keeps getting better. She won three golds at her first world championships in 2011 and four golds at the 2012 Olympics.

Don’t Link Islam With Child Marriage – Akinbode

As thousands of Muslims gathered at the Nasrul-Lahi-l-Fatih Society of Nigeria, NASFAT, Islamic centre, Mowe, Ogun State to observe the Lailatul Qadr otherwise known as Night of Majesty, yesterday, the National Missioner of the group, Sheikh Abdullah Akinbode has warned that no one should link Islam to the raging controversy of Child marriage.

Saying Islam advocates maturity before a girl’s hand can be given out in marriage.

Akinbode while fielding question from Vanguard said, maturity cum puberty is a condition for a girl in Islamic marriage. “Islam cannot be linked to the issue of Child Marriage, puberty and maturity is one of the conditions for giving out a girl’s hand in marriage.”

Reacting to the case of Aisha, Akinbode said: “when Aisha (r.t.a) was betrothed to the Prophet, she was handed over to Khadijah to train and for many years she remained with Khadijah until her death. Beside, she was betrothed to the prophet for the reason of her outstanding intellect, she was very gifted in memorizing the acts and sayings of the prophet which is the hadiths.”

Akinbode urged Muslims to reflect further on the lessons of Ramadan even after Ramadan. “The lessons of Ramadan which revolves around self restraint and denials, self discipline and sacrifice for the good of a larger population, mutual compassion and peaceful cohabitation with others in the community, sharing part of our wealth and caring for the less privileged as well as strengthening our moral values of integrity, honesty and mutual support for progress must continue to live with us.” he stressed.

The President of the association, Alhaji Sheriff Yussuf, whose speech was delivered by the 1st Vice President of the group, Engr. Muhammad Abdullah disclosed that apart from the development of Fountain University, Oshogbo and the Mowe International Islamic Resort centre, the group will soon begin Nasfat Agency for Zakaat and Sadaqat as an NGO which according to him would revolutionise the propagation and administration of Zakaat institution in Nigeria

BREAKING: Boko Haram Attack Security Formations in Borno, 35 Feared Dead

Photo - 35 killed in Borno as Boko Haram attack security formations- OfficialThe spokesman of the Joint Task Force, JTF, Lt Col Sagir Musa, stated that at least 35 persons dead and several others injured in fresh attacks in Borno State.
The spokesman said the  gunmen suspected to be members of the Boko Haram terrorists who had threatened to launch massive attacks as Ramadan ends lived out their threat by launching coordinated attacks on Sunday.
The gunmen attacked a police base in Bama, a town close to Cameroon border.
Mr. Musa said, “Troops have successfully repelled Boko Haram terrorists attack on Mobile Police Base and Bama town.”
“Terrorists using sophisticated weapons and Improvised Explosive Devices launched attacks at about 6:45am on 4th August, 2013.
“The encounter led to the death of one policeman and 17 Boko Haram Terrorists; two soldiers were also wounded,” he said.
Sagir Musa also said two soldiers were killed when Boko Haram staged another attack on the operatives of the Multi-National Joint Task Force (MNJTF). The soldiers were able to kill 17 Boko Haram terrorists during the attack, he added.
He said the attack took place “about 6:45am on 4th August, 2013 when some Boko Haram Terrorists armed with sophisticated weapons attacked MNJTF location at Malum Fatori.”
The military said normalcy had returned to the two towns.
According to Premium Times, the recent attacks have heightened residents fear in Maiduguri especially as they prepare for the Eid-el-Fitri which marks the end of the Ramadan fast.
