Inspired By Winston Churchill, George W. Bush has recently acquired a passion for painting, and the results are surprisingly interesting.
1. Dog Charges at Prisoner
This prison painting explores darker themes than many of his works. Thank goodness for the blue sky brightening things up!
2. A Glowing Sunset
What art portfolio would be complete without a glowing sunset? It's a cliche that's not very well executed, but it's a sunset all the same.
3. A Shaggy Dog Wants to Play Fetch
George W. Bush is exploring more familiar territory here. It might not be very sophisticated, but there's a certain charm to this picture of a shaggy dog hoping to play fetch. You'd throw the yellow ball, wouldn't you?
4. A Man and His Pup
Oh look, George W. can paint puppies too. Perhaps this painting is meant to symbolize the former president's younger days. Or perhaps he just likes puppies!
5. A Day on the Green
George W. Bush's obsession with golf has long been documented, so it makes sense he'd set a landscape on a golfing green. However, the creepy point of view isn't so predictable. Don't you get the feeling that the guy spying on the golfers is up to no good?
6. A Pair of Dogs Again
George W. Bush's failing to give any depth to his art is his undoing. These dogs might just innocently sleeping or resting. But then again, they might be dead!
7. Osama Bin Laden, Clown Style
George W. Bush made no secret of his hatred for Osama Bin Laden. You might expect a Bush painting featuring the terrorist tyrant to be a sombre affair, but instead Bush has given his image a playful makeover. If he adopted this clown face more often, perhaps he wouldn't have been so despised!
8. A Room in a Ranch
This painting, entitled Crawford Breezeway, again sees George W. Bush offering up his own perspective. This painting shows us the view from one of the rooms in his ranch at Crawford, near Waco. Chances are the real view isn't as flat as this.
9. George W. Bush Honors Miss Beazley
Another painting, and another look at George W. Bush's beloved dogs. Perhaps it's a good thing that Miss Beazley didn't live to see this artistic homage. Dog paintings don't get much more hideous.
10. Weird Klu Klux Klan Type Figure
We have no idea what's going on here. The figure at the center of the picture seems to have been styled after the members of the Klu Klux Klan. We're not sure why he's standing on a box, or exactly what those flowers are doing in the watering can. Anyone?
11.Barney, the Former First Dog
George W. Bush has allegedly painted more than 50 dogs since taking up art. But none of the pooches are as important as Barney, his beloved and now deceased Scottish Terrier. It's not the greatest likeness, but through this painting Barney lives on.
12. Bath Time with the President
None of us wanted to see as much of the former American president as we see here. These paintings literally take us into the bath and shower with George W. And that's a place none of us want to be.
13. The Cow-Horse in a Field
The body of this creature seems to suggest it's a horse. But then there are those distinctly cow-like black markings. Just what is going on here?
14. The Drab Gray House
If this painting proves nothing else, it's that George W. Bush needs to work on perspective. Although if he did, this drab gray house would probably be pretty boring. Perhaps incorporating several perspectives into the one artwork isn't so bad after all!
15. An Ugly Dog Outside the White House
On the surface, this is just a really ugly dog sitting outside George W. Bush's former home. But perhaps it's making a bigger statement than we think. Perhaps George is the dog, and those bars are keeping him from the place he wants to be. Or perhaps we're reading too much into it.
