Martinez Hails Hardworking Anichebe

Everton boss Roberto Martinez has saluted the pre-season form of Nigeria international striker Victor Anichebe as “fantastic”.

“As a squad of players, you always look to have as many dimensions as you can. We had Victor Anichebe playing against Juventus and he did a fantastic job. Arouna Kone played well against Blackburn and Nikica Jelavic exactly the same,” he told the club’s official website.
Anichebe has so far shunned African champions Nigeria, insisting he wishes to focus on his club career.
He also said he is pleased with the striking options he has available to him at Everton ahead of the new season having added Arouna Kone and Gerard Deulofeu to the ranks at Goodison Park to bolster his forward line, which has Kevin Mirallas, Jelavic, Anichebe and Apostolos Vellios.
Everton have won three of their four pre-season matches under Martinez and play Real Madrid on Sunday as part of the International Champions Cup in the USA.
