MURDERED soldier Lee Rigby had to be identified by dental records because of the severity of his injuries, it was revealed yesterday.

The Army drummer suffered “extensive and serious” stab injuries after being slashed repeatedly in the head with a meat cleaver and a knife, a coroner was told.

Graphic details of the gruesome killing emerged as the inquest into his death was opened at Southwark Coroner’s Court.

Drummer Rigby, 25, was hacked to death near an Army barracks in Woolwich, south-east London, as he returned from a day working at the Tower of London.

His lifeless body was then dragged into the middle of the road as the two killers encouraged passers-by to look at what they had done.

Detective Chief Inspector Grant Mallon, of Scotland Yard’s Counter-Terrorism Command, outlined the horror of the soldier’s death.

He told the inquest: “As he walked into Artillery Place, a vehicle is seen to swerve into the carriageway on which he was walking and strike him.

“The two occupants of the vehicle then exit the vehicle and attack him with a cleaver and a knife.”

He said investigations into his murder were continuing.

Dental expert Dr Frederick Martin had to identify Lee as a post mortem found he died from “incised wounds”.

Michael Adebolajo, 28, and Michael Adebowale, 22, were both gunned down by armed police at the scene.

Adebowale appeared in court on Thursday charged with Drummer Rigby’s murder.

And last night Adebolajo was discharged from hospital and was being quizzed by detectives.

Adjourning the inquest to a date to be fixed, deputy coroner Lorna Tagliavini said: “I would like to take this
opportunity to give my personal condolences to all members of Lee Rigby’s family.”

Meanwhile, the soldier’s family last night appealed for calm.

They spoke out following a spate of attacks on mosques and plans for a rally in central London today by far-right extremists, which has been banned.

In a statement issued through the Ministry of Defence, they thanked the public for their “overwhelming support”.

They added: “We would like to emphasise that Lee would not want people to use his name as an excuse to carry out attacks against others.

“We would not wish any other families to go through this harrowing experience and we appeal to everyone to keep calm and show their respect in a peaceful manner.”

As a sea of floral tributes continued to grow at the scene of Lee’s death, politicians and religious leaders joined worshippers outside Woolwich Mosque yesterday in a show of unity.

Among those present was East Ham Labour MP Stephen Timms, 57, who was himself stabbed by an extremist at his constituency in 2010.

A friend of murder suspect Adebolajo appeared in court yesterday charged with three terror offences.

Preacher Abu Nusaybah, 28, who gave an interview to BBC2’s Newsnight last week, is accused of distributing extremist literature and videos.

DAMIEN DELANEY caught the tube home from Crystal Palace's promotion party to ensure he was on track to impress Republic of Ireland boss Giovanni Trapattoni.

The Eagles defender, 31, was pictured in tears on Monday in the Wembley tunnel following Palace's dramatic extra-time win over Watford in the Championship Play-off final.

But the Irishman did not go wild at the club's post-match party and left early to make sure he was fresh to meet up with the Ireland squad the next day.

After being left out of the England clash on Wednesday because of his gruelling 120 minutes on Monday, Delaney is hoping Trapattoni will give him a chance against Georgia tomorrow.

And he will also be hoping to feature in the World Cup qualifier against the Faroe Islands on Friday before a trip to New York for a friendly with Spain.

He said: "I've not been told anything by the manager. If they want me or need me, I would love to play against Georgia I really would, I feel back to normal now.

"I didn't get to celebrate at all. I got a text [on Sunday] to be at Luton at 3pm on Tuesday [to meet up with the Irish squad].

"I went back to the hotel after the game where there was a party and about 11.30pm I got the tube home and I watched the NBA game that was on.

"I then went to breakfast with my family the next day - that is who you want to celebrate with. There will be plenty of time for celebrations."

Delaney played a vital role at the heart of Palace's promotion-winning defence.

And he will be hoping that playing in the top flight will earn him more international appearances.

JOSE MOURINHO is facing a blow before he has even started his Chelsea revolution - with Real Madrid set to block his attempts to take any players with him.

Boss Mourinho is on the verge of sealing his return to Stamford Bridge from Madrid.

But the Spaniards are expected to refuse to do business with Mourinho once he has left.

Mourinho is keen on Madrid midfielders Luka Modric and Sami Khedira and goalkeeper Diego Lopez.

Despite falling out with a number of Madrid's big names he remains on good terms with the trio he was hoping to target.

Mourinho's last game in charge of Madrid is against Osasuna today and his Chelsea return is expected to be confirmed early next week.

His three-year Madrid reign has ended on bad terms after a string of public bustups with Bernabeu officials and players.

That lingering ill-feeling is likely to play some part in the Madrid board's decision.

German midfielder Khedira showed how well he got on with Mourinho with an emotional Facebook message about his departing boss.

He said: "Goodbye Jose Mourinho! As you know, my dear friends, our coach is leaving Real Madrid at the end of the season.

"We all respect his decision. I am personally very grateful to him.

"I want to thank him for the opportunity he gave me at Real. I want to thank him for the support he has given me.

"He has always had my back, sometimes because I received criticism from the press!"

Madrid are making further moves to keep him out of Mourinho's clutches by preparing a new deal for Khedira, 26, who has two years left on his current contract.

They are still scarred by the way Mourinho exploited Claude Makelele's contract dispute in 2003 to take him to Stamford Bridge.

They are keen to keep Modric, 27, despite the Croatian failing to light up the Bernabeu since his £33m move from Tottenham last summer.

Madrid are also confident of keeping hold of Lopez, 31, who is prepared to stay after indicating he was ready to follow Mourinho out of Madrid.

FIFA will introduce a raft of new, tougher punishments as they bid to finally crack down on racism.

Clubs will face a warning, fine or having to play a game behind closed doors for first or ‘minor’ offences.

They could then be docked points, be thrown out of competitions or even relegated for second offences or serious incidents.

FIFA also gave the green light to harsher punishments for individuals found guilty of racist behaviour.

They will now face a minimum five-game ban.

Chelsea captain John Terry received just a four-game FA ban last October after being found guilty of racially abusing QPR defender Anton Ferdinand.

But Liverpool striker Luis Suarez was hit with an eight-game ban after abusing Manchester United defender Patrice Evra.

Exclusive: The anguish of Oscar Pistorius

Pretoria, South Africa (CNN) -- Oscar Pistorius is a heartbroken man who has to live with the fact that he killed the love of his life, his uncle has told CNN in an exclusive interview.
For the past three months, the double amputee sprinter has been living at his Uncle Arnold's house in Pretoria. He has grown a beard because he doesn't want to be recognized, and has surrounded himself with photos of Reeva Steenkamp, his uncle says.
Pistorius is charged with murdering the 29-year-old model and law school graduate early on February 14, and faces a court hearing next Tuesday.
Arnold Pistorius described the runner's grief as "unthinkable" and says his heart bleeds for his nephew. "He's got photos in his room, photos all over the place. He's housebound, you know. He doesn't go out in public places.
"What can you say if the person you love the most dies, and you were the instrument? How would you feel? It's unthinkable."
Pistorius says Steenkamp's death was an accident and that he mistook her for a burglar. The state says it was murder. A trial date has not been set.
The sprinter's agent has also spoken for the first time about the 4 a.m. call he received telling him there had been a shooting at the track star's home.
"It was the estate where Oscar (was) staying at, the estate manager's daughter phoned me from Oscar's phone. So I picked up the phone and saw it was Oscar's number and thought it was him phoning me. And just had this voice of a girl frantically on the other side shouting, 'Please, you have to rush over here, you have to come to Oscar's house,'" Peet van Zyl told CNN in an exclusive interview.
"I initially thought it was Oscar that has been shot. She said, 'No, no, no, no. Reeva's been shot.' She explained then to me basically just briefly what happened. And yeah, total shock obviously. So I had to jump in the car and rush through to Pretoria."
Van Zyl said he then called Ampie Louw, the sprinter's coach, and told him to jump in his car and get to Pistorius's house.
"When arrived at the house and you see all the police cars and lights ... I was standing outside, me and Peet and the lawyer, but Oscar was inside," Louw told CNN.
"I could hear him crying in the garage, and Reeva was at the entrance. So that was terrible for me."
Pistorius will make a brief appearance Tuesday at the Pretoria Magistrates Court, which will hear a motion by state prosecutors to postpone the case for further investigations. The trial itself may not happen until early 2014

Storm brings tornadoes, dumps heavy rain on Oklahoma, Missouri

See tornado touch down in El Reno, OK

(CNN) -- A storm system that wrought havoc on the Oklahoma City metropolitan area, generating a handful of tornadoes that killed five people and sent tens of thousands scrambling for shelter, moved late Friday over Missouri.
The National Weather Service warned a "confirmed and extremely dangerous tornado" was near the city of Harvester, about 25 miles northwest of St. Louis.
There were no immediate reports of catastrophic damage or major injuries in the St. Louis area, said Jeff Rainford, the chief of staff for Mayor Francis Slay. Lambert-St. Louis International Airport was closed because of the severe weather, and minor damage was reported to a terminal, he said.
As authorities in Missouri urged people to take shelter, officials in Oklahoma were working to determine how many people had been killed and injured in the storm that battered the state's largest city.
Watch as tornado nears ground in OK
A mother and a child were among five people killed as a result of severe weather, and another 14 were injured, authorities said.
At the height of the storm, the National Weather Service issued a tornado emergency for a number of areas in and around Oklahoma's capital city, with tornadoes reported outside Moore, near the suburb of Bethany, north of Union City and outside Tinker Air Force Base.
Parts of Interstates 35 and 40, which cut through Oklahoma City and Moore, were "a parking lot," the weather service said, warning that those caught in the heavy rush hour traffic "are in danger."
"We've got a nightmare situation going on right now," Betsy Randolph, a state Highway Patrol spokeswoman, told CNN.
"They are essentially sitting ducks on the interstate."
Overturned big rigs and cars littered portions of the roadway, and thousands more were believed to be stuck in the traffic.
"My biggest concern right now is the traffic that is out on the highway right now," Oklahoma Gov. Mary Fallin said.
She said she has called out the National Guard, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol and the state Office of Emergency Management to "try to get the traffic moving" and get people to shelter.
The weather service issued the tornado emergency for Oklahoma City as well as its suburbs of Moore, Yukon and Bethany.
Oklahoma City's Will Rogers World Airport was evacuated over the threat from the approaching tornado, and travelers were sheltered in the airport's basement at the height of the storm, authorities said.
"They are now in the process of slowly allowing people out of their shelter. They are bringing employees up now, and then the passengers will be able to come up once the terminal is properly staffed," said Karen Carney, a spokeswoman for the airport.
"Right now, the airport has no power. Without power, they probably will not be able to allow passengers into the secure areas of the airport. But they obviously can't allow any takeoffs and landings without power, either."
Even those in the National Weather Center -- a building on the University of Oklahoma campus with tenants that include the National Severe Storms Laboratory and NOAA's Storm Prediction Center -- "have been urged to stay away from windows due to potential for 80-90 mph winds," according to a tweet from weather service's Norman office, which also is based in the building.
Police and firefighters were responding to reports of damage in El Reno, just outside Union City, but it was not immediately known how bad the damage was, Mayor Matt White said.
Authorities were urging people in the path of the tornado to take immediate cover, and Fallin was urging residents not to take any risks.
In Moore, where a massive tornado leveled much of the city this month, Mayor Glenn Lewis said it was unimaginable that the city was in the path of another tornado.
A reported tornado moved four miles northwest of Moore, according to the National Weather Service forecasters and storm spotters.
The storm was so fierce that the Weather Channel's Mike Bettes, known for his on-the-ground severe weather reports, said his Tornado Hunt vehicle was thrown about 200 yards.
"Airbags deployed. All are safe," Bettes said in a post on Twitter.
More than 50,000 customers were without power by early Friday evening in the Oklahoma City area because of severe weather, the Oklahoma Gas and Electric Co. said.
More than half the city of Mustang, 17 miles south of Oklahoma City, was without power, Mustang Fire Chief Roy Widmann said.

Attorney: Convicted killer van der Sloot to marry in Peruvian prison

(CNN) -- Convicted killer Joran van der Sloot is planning to wed a Peruvian woman in the prison where he is serving a 28-year sentence, his attorney told HLN, CNN's sister network, on Friday.
Van der Sloot, who remains the prime suspect in the 2005 disappearance of American Natalee Holloway, and his unnamed fiancée are working on completing the paperwork required for the wedding, said attorney Maximo Altez.
The couple hopes to be able to marry within the next two weeks, Altez said. They reportedly met while she was visiting another inmate at Miguel Castro Castro prison in San Juan de Lurigancho.
Van der Sloot, 25, pleaded guilty to the murder of Stephany Flores, whose body was found in May 2010 in a Lima hotel room registered in the Dutchman's name.
He also has been indicted in the United States on charges related to the disappearance of Holloway.
Holloway was last seen in the early hours of May 30, 2005, leaving an Oranjestad, Aruba, nightclub with van der Sloot and two other men, brothers Deepak and Satish Kalpoe. She was visiting the island with about 100 classmates to celebrate their graduation from Mountain Brook High School in suburban Birmingham, Alabama.
Van der Sloot was arrested twice in Aruba in connection with Holloway's disappearance, but was never charged. He has denied responsibility for her disappearance.
In June 2010, a federal grand jury in Alabama indicted him on charges of allegedly attempting to extort $250,000 from Holloway's mother, Beth Holloway. Van der Sloot offered to provide what turned out to be bogus information about the whereabouts of Holloway's remains in exchange for the money, according to the indictment.
He was allegedly given $25,000, which authorities say he used to travel to Peru for a poker tournament.

Africa's 'new cities': Urban future or utopian fantasies?

Large-scale urban developments are being planned across Africa. One of them is Konza Technology City, a major technology hub designed to foster Kenya's ICT growth. Large-scale urban developments are being planned across Africa. One of them is Konza Technology City, a major technology hub designed to foster Kenya's ICT growth.
(CNN) -- Gleaming skyscrapers towering over upwardly mobile professionals and flashy cars cruising along brightly lit avenues; young urbanites zipping past manicured lawns to enter their luxury condos; state-of-the-art labs fostering tech savvy entrepreneurs' million-dollar ideas.
A glimpse of Africa's urban future or utopian fantasies?
The jury might still be out, but these are the snapshots of urban life being touted by international property developers who are announcing plans for new satellite cities and vast modern compounds across Africa.
They are usually planned to be built from scratch on the edges of the continent's existing metropolises, many of which are creaking under the weight of growing populations and rapid urbanization rates.
From the Konza technopolis outside Nairobi, to King City near the emerging port of Takoradi, Ghana, through the luxurious Eko Atlantic on Victoria Island in Lagos, these urban projects are designed to offer high-quality services and modern infrastructure. They're typically branded as smart and futuristic, combining leisure facilities, business opportunities and social amenities for their residents -- from schools and medical centers to shopping malls, theaters and restaurants.
Out of touch?

A new town, with few residents
Lagos: A city for the 21st century
Yet not everyone is convinced. Critics warn that many of these new developments will only serve a tiny elite, exacerbating an already deep divide between the haves and have-nots.
"They are essentially designed for people with money," says Vanessa Watson, professor of city planning at the University of Cape Town. She describes many of the plans as unsustainable "urban fantasies" that ignore the reality of African cities, where most people are still poor and live informally.
"What many of these new cities are doing will result in the exclusion and the forced removal of those kind of informal areas, which quite often are on well-located land," says Watson. In some cases, entire settlements have been relocated and large plots of land have been cleared to make way for the proposed projects.
Critics also bemoan a lack of adequate research to gauge the impact of some new developments on the local environment and economies.
They point out the "ghost town" of Kilamba in Angola, a grandiose project often labeled as a white elephant. Built afresh outside the capital Luanda, Kilamba was designed to accommodate hundreds of thousands of people but remains largely empty due to its expensive housing and unfavorable location.
But for others, these new developments have the potential to reshape Africa's urban future. "Our objective is to provide the basic infrastructure, planning and necessary management framework in creating satellite cities that reverses the current trend of unplanned development and urban congestion in most of Africa's growing cities," says Tim Beighton, of Rendeavour, which is developing several new cities in Africa.
Here, CNN takes a look at some of these bold projects. Tell us what you think about them in the comments section below.

Kelly Slater: 'Surfing is my religion'

More than 20 years after winning his first World Championship, "King of Surfing" Kelly Slater is still going strong. More than 20 years after winning his first World Championship, "King of Surfing" Kelly Slater is still going strong.
At 41, Kelly Slater is old enough to be the father of some of his competitors on the Surfing World Tour. But the 11-time world champion -- dubbed "King Kelly" -- is far from washed up. At a time when his friends are settled down with families, the original surfing pin-up boy is still scoring perfect 10s on the international circuit.
"Friends that were on tour with me 20 years ago, 10 years ago, are now family guys married with kids," he said. "They say 'I can't believe you're still doing it, that you're looking for waves every day.'
"But I want to surf better tomorrow. I want to surf better in 10 years. When I'm 50 I want to be a better surfer than I am now -- for me it's a lifelong journey."
Surfing king's search for perfect wave
Amputee rock climber makes bionic legs
Rise to the top
For Slater, it's a journey that began as a child growing up in the surfing town of Cocoa Beach, in Florida.
Aged 20 he became the youngest person to win the Surfing World Championship, smashing the record books again when he also became the oldest person to win the title at 39.
Indeed, Slater is one of the few professional surfers to have transcended the niche sports magazines to the society pages, appearing in dozens of films and starring in hit 1990s TV show Baywatch.
"I wanted to be [the actor] Steve Martin when I was a kid. I wanted to be a comedian," said Slater.
"When I was eight or 10 years old I didn't know that I could have a career from surfing. There were pro surfers who were my heroes, but those guys weren't rich. They were just surfing and traveling and that's really been the goal my whole life."
Spiritual surfing
Surfing is more than a career for Slater -- it's a spiritual experience, providing solace and filling him with a sense of wonder at nature.
"Surfing is my religion, if I have one," he said. "The barrel [the hollow of a breaking wave] is really the ultimate ride for any surfer. It's the eye of the storm. Some guys say it's like being in the womb.
"For me it's sort of like time slows down. You become hyper aware of a lot of different things -- the way the wave is breaking, timing, putting yourself in the right part of the barrel. It takes all of your mental capacity to do it just right."
Despite being one of the oldest competitors on the international circuit, Slater has lost none of the grace, skill and fearlessness that made him the most successful surfer in the history of the sport.
On the face of the wave, obviously life and death thoughts start to happen
Kelly Slater
He scored a perfect 10 for a jaw-dropping reverse flip at notoriously treacherous Bell's Beach in southern Australia last year.
"This section came at me, and I just launched myself, kind of a 'Hail Mary,'" said Slater.
"I didn't know if I was going to land it, or if I was going to break my board, or if I was going to break an ankle."
Daredevils
But along with the thrills come huge dangers, with Slater admitting that many of his friends have drowned while surfing.
"It makes you think about what it's worth. But what's life worth? Life's worth experiences and it's worth the people in your life too," he said.
"I'm sure it's different once you have a partner in your life or kids -- maybe that one wave's not that important any more."
And as technology develops, the mega waves which decades ago surfers could only dream of riding, are now within reach.
Today, thrill seekers are towed by jet ski into colossal waves that would once have been out of bounds. But the dangers are just as large, with surfers risking being pushed up to 15-meters below the water.
"Big waves are a whole different ball game," said Slater. "You're riding a wave with an immense amount of speed and power, generally over 10 meters. On the face of the wave, obviously life and death thoughts start to happen."
Same ball game
Slater has been chasing waves his whole life. And you get the feeling his obsession with the water has little to do with the $3.5 million in prize money he's earned.
"The other day we were watching this dog chasing a ball, and I was like 'God wouldn't it be so great if you could do the same thing over and over and over again your whole life and it's still as fun?'" he said.
"And I'm like: wait! That's what we do. We travel around the whole world just to do that. So waves for surfers are like balls for dogs. We're just constantly chasing them."
He may have been playing the same ball game over more than four decades, but when it comes to surfing, Slater's love is as deep as the ocean.

Rivers Has Highest HIV/AIDS Cases

Rivers State has the highest number of people living with HIV/AIDS with a total of 145,236 adults and 15,000 children affected.
Priscillia Shu, Co-ordinator, Rhema Care Integrated Development Centre stated this when the HIV/AIDS awareness center facilitated a sensitisation programme among staff of the Rivers State Ministry of Culture and Tourism .
To curb the spread of HIV/AIDS, the awareness campaigner stressed the need  for abstinence and faithfulness to one uninfected partner at the event.
She also advised on the need to avoid use of unsterilized sharp instruments and ensure that only screened blood are transfused.
Shu recalled that the epidemic first came to lime-light in America in the 80s then gradually crept into Nigeria in 1988 in Calabar through a 13 year old teenage girl.
Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Culture and Tourism Mrs. Grace Akpughunum-Okwulehie who was represented by the ministry’s Director of Administration, Mrs. Ibiere Pepple enjoined all staff to join hands in minimizing the spread of HIV/AIDS.

Security Seal Off Abuja’s Amigo Supermarket over Owner’s Alleged Terrorism Link

The popular Amigo supermarket in Abuja was sealed off by the Nigeria security agencies on Friday’s evening. The mall is owned by a Lebanese who is accused of being part of an uncovered terrorist cell.
The Joint Task Force in Kano on Thursday named Fauzi Fawad, a co-owner of Amigo and Wonderland Amusement Park, Abuja’s largest, as allegedly part of a Lebanese Hezbollah cell operating in Nigeria.
Both public areas were open on Friday as shoppers and visitors, many unaware of Mr. Fawad’s alleged involvement, continued their transactions. Wonderland also allowed visitors in without the basic entry fee.
“I don’t know about the owners terrorism links, I just came here to get some stuff,” Chuks Nweze, a shopper at Amigo, said.
The sealing was not done by the police. The sources from the Nigeria security agencies said the sealing was done by the Department of State Security, SSS, who did not want to raise any alarm among the public and so waited till late in the evening to seal off both buildings.
Mr. Fawad is currently on the run, the JTF said after investigations by the SSS.
The JTF said they arrested three Lebanese in various raids in Kano and recovered heavy weaponry including anti-tank guns, rocket propelled grenades from a bunker in the house used by the foreigners.
They said the three arrested all named Mr. Fawad as being part of their cell.
The Lebanese community in Kano has already distanced itself from the actions of those arrested.

2015 Election: Anenih Seeks Automatic PDP Ticket For Jonathan, Others

The Chairman of the Board of Trustees, BoT, of the Peoples Democratic Party, Tony Anenih, has proposed an automatic second term ticket for incumbent president and governors who perform well in office, thus seeking to boycott the usual primaries.
This he said is to avoid the hassles that go with the party primaries, especially for executive positions.
Speaking at a dinner organised by President Goodluck Jonathan on Thursday night, for the “PDP family” at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa, Mr. Anenih said the internal problem of the party must be urgently handled if Nigerians must take the party serious.
The proposal by Mr. Anenih, if accepted by the party, would mean that President Goodluck Jonathan would be unchallenged for the PDP presidential ticket in 2015.
Mr. Anenih is one of the most influential member of the PDP and holds one of its highest positions as BoT chairman. He is believed to have emerged BoT chairman based on Mr. Jonathan’s support.
His proposal must however be adopted by the parties structures including the National Working Committee, National Executive Committee, and Convention for it to become a rule.
Mr. Anenih added that the ongoing problems in the Nigerian Governors Forum, NGF, which has seen the emergence of two chairmen, both of whom are from the PDP, “is an embarrassing situation which must be urgently addressed.”
PDP won’t tolerate NGF crisis
Mr. Anenih also cautioned the PDP to solve its internal crisis or risk losing the support of Nigerians.
“I believe the challenges facing the party are temporary and at the end of the day we will come out stronger. But if we want to continue to enjoy the support of Nigerians; if we create tension in the country as a result of the problems in our party and expect Nigerians to continue to support and applaud us, it is not possible,” he said.
The Edo politician also said the party would not tolerate the NGF crisis.
“As party leaders, we must commit ourselves to repositioning the party. It is an embarrassment what is happening in the Nigeria Governors Forum. It is an embarrassing situation which must be urgently addressed. The leadership of the party will not tolerate a situation where it will preside over a divided house.
“We need a strong party. If a party is strong and there is discipline and those who work hard are rewarded, our government will be stronger. Our problems are not insurmountable. After the tour of the board of trustees, we will collate the opinions and make appropriate recommendations to the president as leader of the party. But what I would like to say is that the president and governors who are seeking their second term should be given automatic tickets to contest the second term,” he said.
The Chairman of the party, Bamanga Tukur, who announced that those present at the event were the “Happy, contended” family of PDP under his watch, urged members of the party to imbibe the culture of discipline as the party can only grow “if we imbibe the culture of discipline, justice and equity”.
Mark seeks automatic ticket too
In his remark, the Senate President, David Mark, also called for members of the parliament to be given automatic ticket in order to strengthen the parliament.
He also urged members not to take the opposition for granted saying “if they are not there that means we are not working, they want to be where we are because we are doing well”.
In his remarks, President Goodluck Jonathan thanked members of the party for their commitment adding that there was no need for members of the party to panic because re-groupings by opposition parties.
“If the opposition is holding meetings everyday, then you should smile. If the opposition starts applauding the president, there is problem. PDP will endure because it was not built based on conspiracy against anybody. We believe in this country,” he said.
He added that the disagreements within the PDP was not abnormal for such a large family, as there are bound to be disagreements which would be resolved. He also said the idea of the family dinner had been thought up by himself and the party chairman who had seen it as an opportunity for party members to interact and exchange ideas.

No Faction in NGF – Jang

No Faction in NGF – JangThe factional Chairman of the Nigeria Governors Forum, Jonah Jang, on Friday denied division in the NGF, claimed that he is its only chairman.
Speaking with State House correspondents after meeting with President Jonathan, Jang said the meeting with the president was to “congratulate Mr. President and to consult with him on very serious national issues”.

Meet The World's Smallest Girl

Five-year-old Charlotte Garside isn't even 27 inches tall -- barely the size of a typical newborn infant -- but she's no baby, according to her mother.

"We've been told she looks like a porcelain doll, a baby in a pram and people still call her baby Charlotte, which riles me something chronic, because she's not a baby, she's five years old," Emma Garside told Barcroft TV.
Charlotte, who lives in the English town of Withernsea, was born with a rare form of Primordial Dwarfism. She weighs nine pounds, the same as a large newborn baby.
At birth, she registered just two pounds and was extremely fragile.
"I have said she looked like a skinned rabbit, her mother said. "She had a little pink hat on and was wrapped in bubble wrap up till her neck."
Despite barely being the height of the cereal boxes on her kitchen counter, Charlotte lives as normal a life as possible. She goes horseback riding with her family and attends school.
"She is very inquisitive and the school have already told us she has a learning age of a three-year-old, which is higher than we thought," Emma Garside told the Daily Mail. "Of course, I was worried she could get hurt by the other children, but she has her own tutor look after her and she's not as fragile as you'd think."
Charlotte has been called the world's smallest girl, but that title is unofficial. Guinness World Records doesn't recognize that category, but the record keeping company has a sport for the world's smallest teenager.

That title is currently unclaimed, according to a Guinness spokeswoman, since the last record holder, Jhoti Amge of India, is now an adult.
Standing 24.7 inches, Amge is shorter than Charlotte. The 5-year-old also towers over the world's shortest man, Chandra Bahadur Dangi of Nepal, who measures 21.5 inches tall.
It's unclear how big Charlotte will grow. Her mother just wants to do what's best for her.
"There are a lot of unknowns but Charlotte has a way of surprising you when you least expect it. We didn't know if she would live this long," she said, according to HuffPost UK. "We didn't know if she would be able to interact with people and there have been times when we thought we might lose her.
"But she keeps on thriving and I can't wait to see what the next year brings."

Nollywood Celebrities Failed Marriages Overview

Nollywood Celebrities Failed Marriages Overview

In some parts of the world, Africa in particular, Nigerian movies reign supreme, and the actors are semi-gods. With their repertoire of popular movies, they have undoubtedly mended cracks in the union of some viewers, but then, many of their own marriages have been characterised by heartbreaks, separations and divorces.
They have made their way into the hearts of millions of people, who dream to be like them. But either at home or abroad, there is one thing none of their fans will pray for —failed marriages and heartbreaks.
This development seems to be more rampant among the movie stars. While some of them have remained eligible spinsters/bachelors, those that managed to walk down the aisle barely sustain the momentum. The list of movie stars with failed marriages is endless, and with the recent decision of actress Laide Bakare to walk out of her marriage to Mr. Okunfulire, the last has not been heard.
Laide Bakare, after about three years of denying that there are cracks in her matrimonial home, has eventually walked out of her marriage. In the early hours of 3 May, she officially announced through her publicist, Folorunsho Hamsat, that her marriage has hit the rocks.
Laide Bakare: Opted out of her marriage
The official statement from her publicist reads thus: “We would like to announce to the general public on behalf of Nollywood star actress, Laide Bakare, that she has officially opted out of her relationship with Mr. Okunfulire, her former husband.
“While it lasted, the actress showed the utmost level of maturity, in spite of the ‘glaring injustice’ from her former husband. Laide has endured the marriage with Mr. Okunfulire for whom she displayed total affection. But things fell apart when she discovered that she was indeed married to a man with a legally married wife and two children not a single man she thought he was as told her by Mr. Okunfulire when the relationship started.
“But, being a celebrity who has become a model to young persons in the society, coupled with the need to exercise decorum, she has kept fate with the marriage until lately when she could no longer continue and then called it quits. Her former union with Mr. Okunfulire produced a beautiful child, Similoluwa who is nicknamed Chelsea.”
The Yoruba actress also announced that she has moved on by settling down with another man, Mr. Tunde Oriowo. She claimed that her relationship with the latter began late last year, a development that has been criticised.
Barely a week after this announcement, Mr. Okunfulire, who is based abroad, opened a can of worms in an interview with a soft-sell magazine. He claimed that Laide is still his wife, though there have been cracks in their marriage because “she sleeps around.” Okunfulire added that he only learnt of his wife’s statement on the purported breakup on social media.
Laide Bakare’s sordid tale is just one of the numerous heartbreaks and marriage break-up scandals in the movie industry.
Many female entertainers in Nigeria are victims of this. It is either they have a broken marriage or don’t even have one at all. Some of them have blamed it on the society. They claimed that most Nigerian men have low self esteem, and cannot differentiate between their woman’s real character and make-belief. They argued further that an average Nigerian man will not be comfortable with his wife, fiancée or girlfriend, as the case may be, being smooched by another man in a movie.
They also blamed the media. The media, according to actress Benita Nzeribe, has broken many celebrity relationships with their sensational gossips. “No mother would read such scandalous stories and still allow her son to marry such lady. The media is not helping matters. The most painful aspect of it is that most of the things they write about us are not true.”
But Asiwaju Benson Akindeju, the producer of television dramas –Family Ties, Face-2-Face and Nowhere To Be Found, opined that the female entertainers, actresses in particular, should work more on their personality, rather than blame the society or media for their inability to get married.
Akindeju said the problem is more complex than what most people can imagine. “I think the problem starts with their inability to manage stardom. They could be humble at the initial stage of their career, but the moment fame comes, they tend to lose everything, forgetting that no matter the situation, an African man would always want to command respect from his wife.”
He added that most of them are so arrogant that they can’t even listen to simple corrections on set. “I have had cause to walk some of them off  my set for insubordination. Most of them cannot manage stardom and it is a big problem. They always forget that nothing lasts for ever. If you are the best actress today, someone must surely take the baton from you tomorrow. So whatever you manage to achieve within your active reign is what you will live to remember. No matter her fame or achievements, a woman without a husband cannot be regarded as a successful person.”
Having played roles where they teach viewers many lessons about marriage and relationships, one would simply imagine that these actresses have one of the best homes or relationships, but the reverse is obviously the case.
The list of Nollywood actresses facing marital challenges seems to be endless. While some have tasted broken marriages, others have continued over the years to be eligible spinsters, and it has become an issue of growing concern. Many of the marriages break up on grounds of infidelity and battery.
Chika Ike: Lost her marriage to infidelity and assault
Chika Ike, one of the most beautiful Nigerian actresses, got married to Tony Eberiri in 2006, but a few years later, the union hit the rocks following allegations ranging from infidelity to assault. The actress, who filed for divorce, said in an interview: “I have a lot of friends who would have left their marriages but because of the African society, their in-laws, what people will say or other factors, they stay. We’ve heard a lot of deaths caused by bad marriages and before the death, there would have been signs, things would have been happening leading up to that. I think it has to do with age and many other things like compatibility and not being true to yourself in the marriage. Everybody has a limit. There are some things in marriage that you might not be able to stand. Some people’s limit might not be my limit. My limit might be somebody’s starting point.”
One of the most shocking was that of Fathia and Saheed Balogun. The much celebrated union hit the rocks over  multiple allegations of infidelity, and efforts by influential personalities in the country to settle their differences fell on deaf ears.
Eucharia Anunobi: Quited over constant battery
Actress Eucharia Anunobi, who is now a pastor, called it quits with Charles Ekwu, the father of her son, Joshua, a few years after they got married. Eucharia cited constant battery by Charles as the reason she pulled out of the union. But it was actually Charles that first walked out of the relationship. He actually abandoned the actress and her son.
At the tender age of 15, Shan George got married and after bearing two kids, she walked out of the marriage at 21, alleging that her husband couldn’t send her to school but rather turned her into a punching bag. After she graduated from the University of Lagos at the age of 29, she has tried to get married on two occasions but all to no avail.
Clarion Chukwurah is no doubt one of the most talented actresses in Nigeria. She had been married twice; first to the brother of the late Bashorun M.K.O. Abiola and later to the Oduneyes, but at the moment, she is a single mother.
Popular actress, Ayo Adesanya moved out of her matrimonial home over alleged battery by her hubby, Goriola Hassan, who later blamed Ayo’s unfaithfulness for his actions. The hitherto rosy relationship hit the rocks amid controversy.
Frequent crisis, irreconcilable differences and incompatibility wrecked the four-year old marriage of actress Foluke Daramola to ex-hubby, Mr. Adebowale, though she is now married to Kayode Salako.
Fathia
Ibinabo Fibresima, the National President of the Actors’ Guild of Nigeria, AGN, is among female entertainers with failed marriages. The Okrika, Rivers State-born actress has experienced two failed marriages that produced two children.
Monalisa
Actress Monalisa Chinda accused her ex-husband, Dejo Richards, of battery and she moved out of her matrimonial home. The union was blessed with a daughter. The list of the industry’s personalities with failed marriages include Bimbo Oshin, Doris Simeon, Kate Henshaw, Moji Olaiya, Fred Aseroma, Emem Isong and Peace Anyiam Osigwe to mention a few.
Sultry actress, Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde is one of the few lucky actresses that have enjoyed a good marital life. In an interview, she identified the inability of her colleagues to “draw the lines between their profession and family” as the reason behind many failed marriages.
According to Omotola, an average African man will not compromise the level of respect he gets from his spouse, and as a result, the woman, irrespective of her status or class, must give due respect and time to her family.
The multiple award-winning actress cited that for instance, “when you see me outside, I’m Omo Sexy, the movie star. But at home, I’m the humble and obedient wife and mother. The moment you fail to realise this, there is likely to be a problem in your relationship.”
