WALES were forced to hang on in the first Test of their summer tour to Japan in Osaka.

Harry Robinson scored a second-half try in the Kintetsu Hanazono Stadium.

But Japan responded through tries from Michael Broadhurst and Yoshikazu Fujita.

In the end the hosts were made to pay for missing three kicks as 14 points from the boot of Dan Biggar – plus a Rhys Patchell penalty – saw the Welsh hold on.

Japan took control through two Ayumu Goromaru penalties.

Then Biggar kicked two in reply, before Broadhurst’s try for Japan.

Biggar converted his third penalty in the 47th minute and another gave Wales the lead.

Robinson’s try was converted by Biggar to hand Wales a 19-11 lead.

But Japan replied with a coverted try for right wing Fujita.

Patchell’s 78th-minute penalty ensured that Wales sealed victory
