Bisi Akande Appointed APC Interim National Chairman

There are confirmations that the All Progressive Congress (APC) has appointed Chief Bisi Akande as the interim chairman of the new merger party.фото
Addressing a news conference at the end of a closed door meeting in Abuja, the former governor of Borno State, Senator Ali Modu Sheriff said the appointment was part of the requirement for the registration of the new party.
He said the appointment of Chief Akande is a consensus decision among the merging parties.
The National Secretary of the All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP), Alhaji Tijani Tumsa was appointed interim national secretary.
The meeting was held at the Lagos state governors lodge and attended by governors and chieftains of major political parties.
The meeting was held behind closed door for over three hours. The governors dismissed reports of disagreement among members of the opposition, insisting that significant progress has been made towards the realisation of the merger.
The Independent National Electoral Commission had directed the merging parties to put in place a national executive as part of the registration procedure. Now that this has been done, it expected to give energy to the fight by the opposition to wrestle power from the ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
