Plateau Community Denies Attacking Fulani

Tarok people of Wase Local Government of Plateau State have debunked allegations that they are responsible for the frequent attacks on the Hausa/Fulani settlements in Wase.

This came three days after gunmen suspected to be members of an Islamic sect attacked two communities in the council, killing one person and burning five houses.
The Chairman of Ngwan Ishi O’Tarok, a traditional union in charge of welfare and security in the local government, Mr. Lohbut Jangle, in a statement in Jos on Thursday, said contrary to insinuations, the persistent attacks on Wase and Langtang North and Langtang South were not perpetrated by Tarok youths.
The statement read, “We have decided to inform the world of the evil perpetrated against the Tarok natonals in Wase and its environs. We Tarok people in Wase are being treated as outcasts.”
