Tambuwwal, Patience Jonathan Absent

Again, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Alhaji Aminu Tambuwwal, did not show up at the event that was attended by the President of the Senate, David Mark, and his deputy, Ike Ekweremadu.
This was despite the assurance he gave Jonathan in front of cameras during the recent meeting of the PDP national caucus that, “Your Excellency, I am not hiding. I am your property.” This was after the President had accused him of hiding from cameras so that both of them would not be seen together.
But more pronounced was the absence of the wife of the President, Mrs. Patience Jonathan. Many could not believe that the woman known for her well-oiled campaign for women participation in government could be absent from a programme organised to honour her husband for giving more women chances to serve.
Her absence was also despite the fact that the whole of Chapter Two of the book titled ‘A First Lady who sets the pace’. Pages 50 to 57 were devoted to her with her colourful pictures lavishly splashed on the glossy pages.
One of her closest allies, Hajiya Bola Shagaya however attended the dinner.
The President’s female appointees all came out gorgeously dressed for the event. I just hope that they are not trying to use the programme and the book to tie his hands, in case he is contemplating a cabinet reshuffle!
