TONY FERNANDES has blasted back at Harry Redknapp in the bitter row over QPR's transfer policy.

Redknapp has threatened to quit as boss if the board interfere with transfers.

But owner Fernandes is insisting players will be offered incentivised contracts based on appearances.

Fernandes said: "Harry is an emotional guy. He wants to come back up like we all do. But we want to do things properly. We learnt a lot from last season. We want players that want to play for us.

"We want to protect ourselves against players who may get injured or may not be fit enough.

"So we have to find a balance of being enthusiastic and throwing money down the drain.

"Harry is passionate. You can't blame him for that. But we are determined to build the right culture and protection for this club. If a player plays for us, a lot of his wages are also on appearances as well.

"So you are not having guys on the bench earning big salaries and doing nothing. So there is a balance.

"We'll solve it. The important thing is to get a strategy and stick to it.

"I'm not here to choose players. I never have. It's not my job.

"Harry should be the first person to say I've been the most supportive chairman in the Premier League."
