Christian Eriksen rejects Bayer Leverkusen in favour of Liverpool

CHRISTIAN ERIKSEN has paved the way for a move to Liverpool after rejecting the advances of Bayer Leverkusen.

The 21-year-old Denmark star is regarded as one of hottest prospects in European football and has just a year left on his Ajax contract.
Leverkusen were keen to lure him to Holland while Zenit St Petersburg have also shown an interest.
But Eriksen has shown both of them the cold shoulder, fuelling speculation that he's holding out on for a move to Anfield.

Eriksen's agent Martin Schoots told Dutch newspaper Voetbal International: "Christian will only leave Ajax on sporting grounds, that's his main criteria."
Ajax want to sell the midfielder now, otherwise he can walk out and leave for nothing when his contract runs out.
Eriksen is in talks with a number of clubs but their boss Frank de Boer hinted Liverpool were leading the race to sign him.

He said: "It is up to Christian what he wants. If he feels good going to Liverpool, then it is up to him.
"I would want nothing more than having him with us for a few more years.
"But we realise the interest in this kind of player is huge. And I can also understand that he wants to make another step in his career. I can't stop him."
