Woman Sets Herself On Fire Over Cats' Death

Dejected over the death of her pet cats, a 25-year-old sales executive committed suicide at her house in Amberpet on Monday, India.
The victim, identified as Swarnalata, 25, from New Maruti Nagar at Amberpet, was working as a sales executive at a jewellery store at Ameerpet.
According to the police, Swarnalata was fond of cats and had eight pet cats at her house.
However, the owner of her house and her neighbours were not so fond of the pets and a few days ago, they forced Swarnalata to abandon them. The cats fell ill and on Sunday afternoon, Swarnalata found two of them lying dead near her house.

"Swarnalata was really upset about the death of her pets.
On Monday evening, she set herself ablaze using kerosene at her house when she was alone. She died on the spot," Amberpet inspector K Kalyan Kumar said.
Swarnalata's mother, Laxmi, a widow, works as a helper at a local function hall.
Police found a suicide note in Swarnalata's house.
According to the inspector, she had written: "Cats are dead. I am unable to rescue them. I love cats and I am committing suicide."
Police registered a case under section 174 (Suspicious death) of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC).
