Emerging Brazilian star, Neymar, scored Brazil's first goal today, just as he did against Japan in the opening match, with an assist from Alves in the 9th minute.
Another scorer in the first match, Jo, came in as a substitute to score the second goal in the 93rd minute, enjoying an assist from Neymar.
The other group game, between Italy and Japan, was due to start one hour after the end of the first.  Mexico will play its last group match on Saturday against Japan.  On that day, unless Japan wins that match and Italy loses to Brazil and Mexico defeats Japan with a healthy goal difference, Mexico will be headed home after the final whistle.
Nigeria plays Uruguay in its Group B second match tomorrow.  If she wins, she is likely to face Brazil in one of the semi-final matches.
