TOTTENHAM have set their sights set on West Brom star Jonas Olsson - and are pondering whether to activate his £3.5m release clause.

Spurs were interested in the 30-year-old Sweden international last summer but the move petered out following the departure of Harry Redknapp.

But chairman Daniel Levy is ready to back Andre Villas-Boas to get a deal done.

Olsson signed a new two-year deal in October but the centre-half was disappointed how the Baggies' form dropped in the second half of the season.

West Brom ended up winning just four of their last 19 Prenier League games.

“Autumn was amazing. We were in the top three or four at Christmas. Then there was the Achilles heel of our team that the squad is not the biggest," Olsson told Express & Star.

“It tends to show itself in the spring when there are worn-out bodies.

“It has been a common thread of my time in West Bromwich.”
