Liverpool legend: Pepe Reina will quit if he falls behind Simon Mignolet

PEPE REINA will quit Liverpool rather than play second fiddle to Simon Mignolet, says Anfield legend Jan Molby.

Pepe Reina faces competition at Anfield from Simon Mignolet

Brenda nRodgers snapped up Mignolet, 25 from Sunderland for £9million, insisting he was bought to give Reina competition.

But former Kop star Molby believes he was bought to be No.1 and Reina will leave.

Molby said: “I’d be very surprised if both of them were there on September 1.

“In the first three or four years Pepe was here he was as good as the club’s ever had.
“He hasn’t quite been the same in the last couple of years but I think he’s a great keeper. Possibly the time has come for him to move on.”
