JOSE MOURINHO HINTS HE WANTS TO BEAT ARSENAL TO SIGN WAYNE ROONEY

ABOVE: Wayne Rooney is valued at around £25m

JOSE MOURINHO has admitted he is a big fan of Wayne Rooney - and hinted he wants to try and beat Arsenal to sign him.

The Manchester United star flew out of Bangkok hours before Chelsea arrived after scans revealed a hamstring injury will keep him out for a month.
It's led to some suggesting he's set to leave the club and, if he does, Chelsea are in pole position to sign him.
Rooney will cost around £25m and Mourinho suggested he would love to see Rooney at Stamford Bridge.
He said: "I cannot speak about players from other teams but you know me.
"I have always said what I think and I like the player very much.
"I cannot say more than that. He is fast and direct. I like him but he is a Manchester United player."
Arsenal had hoped to bring two of Rooney, Luis Suarez and Gonzalo Higuain to the Emirates.
