THE Highlands cottage where pervert Jimmy Savile sometimes lived has been sold at auction for twice it's asking price.

The remote and detached cottage in Scotland had an asking price of £100,000, but a couple snapped it up for £212,000.

Paedo Savile bought the cottage in 1998, and since his years of sex abuse was revealed, it has been covered in graffiti.

Phrases such as "Jimmy The Beast" were sprayed across the walls of the white three-bedroomed property.

The auction to buy the cottage started off with a phone bid of £80,000 before a bidding war erupted.

An older couple who were at the auction ended up securing the home, but refused to comment about their new purchase.

It's not known whether they bought the house themselves or were part of a bigger group.

In the wake of Savile's crimes, many think the cottage should be demolished or turned into a mountaineering museum.

It was sold by trustees of the DJ's estate.
