AUSTRALIA batsman David Warner allegedly threw a punch at England's Joe Root in a nightclub - because he was wearing a joke wig.

And the incident has sent England-legends-turned-Twitter-jokers flying into action as Warner casts himself as the pre-Ashes villain.
Former captain MichaelVaughan tweeted "Just to clarify... It wasn't my Wig that @joeroot05 was wearing on Saturday night” while all-rounder Andrew 'Freddie' Flintoff retorted: "I know Joes got taste ! #deadrat."
Warner swung the blow at Birmingham's Walkabout in the early hours of Sunday morning after being upset at Root for wearing the wig as a beard.
He thought Root was mocking South African's bearded star Hashim Amla, according to one national newspaper, and he had to be dragged away by team-mate Clint McKay.
England fans mocked Mitchell Johnson for his dodgy bowling in the last Ashes - and they carried on the banter when the two sides met in the ICC Champions Trophy on Saturday.
Now Warner will have to take over Johnson's mantle, if he isn't sent home by Cricket Australia.
Warner was left out the side for today's clash with New Zealand.
